TV:
Our smart TV allows you to access Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, and so much more. It is hooked up to the soundbar (see below) for an exceptional listening experience. Please remember to log out of your accounts before checking out.
DVD player:
We have a collection of movies on dvd for you to choose from. Please make sure to turn the player off when you’re done watching.
Soundbar:
Located under the TV, this soundbar is connected to the TV and can be hooked up to your phone or laptop via bluetooth.
Heater:
You can adjust the temperature using the thermostat on the living room wall. However, please try to keep it above 65 degrees. The heater is old but powerful. It does make a slight noise when heating so don’t be alarmed. Turn the heat up or down by running your finger along the right side of the thermostat.
Fireplace:
If you decide to use the wood burning fireplace please open the flue by pushing the lever (located up inside the chimney) towards the rear of the fireplace. Please clean out the ashes prior to your departure. There is a black ash bucket located on the back patio for cooled ashes.
Coffee Maker:
Filters, sugar and coffee can be found in the upper cupboard just left of the stove. Fill the water reservoir with your desired amount of water, place coffee in the filter, and turn the dial to BREW. Then flip the switch to On. Please remember to clean the filter and turn the maker off when you are done.
Dishwasher:
We love the convenience of our small dishwasher! You’ll find dishwasher tablets under the kitchen sink. The most efficient setting to use is the one labeled ‘Eco’ with the 1-hour setting.
Range:
The oven is brand new and works great but we have noticed it can be a little finicky when lighting (just give it a few tries if necessary). Turn the oven temp knob to the spark position and press the knob in to ignite the oven burner. After the burner lights, turn the knob to the desired temperature. Allow the oven to preheat at least 15 minutes before cooking. To turn the oven off, simply turn the knob to the OFF position.
The stove burners can also be lit using a lighter if they don't light after a few tries. Turn the knob to light and hold the lit lighter near the burner. It should light up instantly.
Rice Maker:
Measure the amount of rice using the cup provided. Add as much water as cups used (if you use 1 cup rice, add water to the 1 line in the bowl). Press down on the switch to start the cooking process. The rice maker will automatically switch over to warm once the rice is done. Please clean the pot and lid after use.
Air Fryer:
It is recommended to preheat the air fryer for a minute or 2 before adding your food. Turn it on, adjust the temperature up or down, as well as the timer. Then place food into the basket. Please be sure to clean the air fryer after you use it.
Firepit:
Turn the propane on at the tank. Then, turn the knob to “light” and press the ignition button. It should light quickly, then turn the knob counterclockwise to raise the heat. Once you are done with the pit, please turn the propane tank’s knob to “close”, place the lid over the burner and replace the cloth cover.
BBQ:
Turn the propane on using the knob on the tank (it should be in the “closed” position). Turn the ignition knob to Hi/light (lightning bolt symbol). Press in the Electronic Ignition button. You should hear a few clicks and then the 1 burner will light. Turn the remaining knobs to light the other parts of the grill.
Please close the propane tank valve once you are done cooking. Be sure to clean the grates too. A scouring brush should be hanging off one side of the BBQ for this. Once the BBQ is cool enough please replace the cover.
We are pet friendly (our own dog is a frequent visitor to the cabin and we apologize in advance if you find his fur in a corner of the cabin) and have various dog toys, bowls, treats, and a heated dog bed for your furry friend. There is a pooper scooper and baggie dispenser on the side yard beside the chimney. While we love dogs, we kindly ask that you keep them off the furniture. We ask that you please do not wash your dog in the shower (fur clogs the drain). However, feel free to use the smaller gray towels (located under the bathroom sink) to dry off wet/snowy paws.
There is a large empty lot located just west of the cabin, across Shore Drive, where you can freely walk your dog. There is also an off leash dog park located 7 minutes from the cabin.
Pet Safety:
Please do not leave pets unattended inside or outside the cabin. Here in Big Bear, we have predators abound! We have bears, coyotes, mountain lions, red tail hawks, eagles, bobcats and more! Please always have your dogs on leash, and do not release in the backyard unattended. (Any pet damages will be charged to guest.)
Mountain View Animal Hospital: 42146 Fox Farm Road, Big Bear Lake, CA 92315, (909) 589-6746 (open 7 days a week)
Bear City Animal Hospital: 214 W Big Bear Blvd, Big Bear, CA 92314, (909) 585-7808
Window coverings:
The cellular window shades have insulating properties and therefore keep the cold out when closed. To close: gently tug the shades down towards the window sill. To open, slowly lift the shade to the desired height and it will stay at that level.
Water Heater:
The house is equipped with a tankless water heater. It may take a few seconds for the water to warm up, especially in the winter. The water heater makes a slight noise while it is heating so please do not be alarmed.
Toilet:
The toilet in the bathroom is a dual flush, wall-hung model. The smaller button is for liquid waste flushing and the larger button is for solid waste. The button needs to be held down for the duration of the flush.
While the cabin is not equipped with a washer or dryer there is a laundromat called Sugar Tub Laundromat located 3 minutes from the cabin. 152 Maple Ln, Sugarloaf, CA 92386. The machines only take quarters but there is a change machine in the facility. ($2.50 for wash, .25 for every 10 minutes in the dryer)
Our cabin is located in the mountains. This means that wild animals may visit from time to time. This can include a variety of birds, squirrels, rats, raccoons, insects, spiders and even the occasional wild donkey. While we can try our best to deter them from the property we’ve found it is easier to co-exist with them. While we do our best to keep insects out of the cabin, a stray spider might sneak in now and again.
Mountain living also means the occasional power/internet outage. You will find emergency flashlights plugged into multiple outlets around the cabin (living room, near the kitchen and the bedroom). If you need to use them please be sure to plug them back in upon your departure.
If the power does go out the stove and heater will still work. We stock the cupboards with a few non-perishables, like oatmeal and pasta, in case snack emergencies strike.
We try to limit the amount of things guests need to do upon checkout but kindly ask that you complete the following:
1. Empty trash & recycling into the appropriate bins located in the front yard. If you want to be extra helpful (and are checking out on a Sunday) we'd love it if you could take the bins out to the curb for Monday pick up.
2. Wash, dry & put away any dishes, pots, pans, etc. you use prior to checking out. If you forget our cleaners charge us $25 to wash the dishes by hand which we will in turn charge you. This includes coffee maker, ricer cooker and air fryer.
3. Put all used towels on the bathroom floor.
4. Pick up any dog poop & place in trash can.
5. Clean out ashes/wood remains from the fire place if it was used for a fire.
6. Close all the blinds/curtains & lock front/back door upon your departure.
We use this cabin frequently and are friends with our neighbors. Please abide by the following rules on your visit.
1. No parties or events allowed.
2. No smoking allowed.
3. Please keep pets off the furniture.
4. Not suitable for children under 12.
5. No unregistered guests allowed.
6. Please clean out fireplace ashes if it was used. There is a metal ash bucket on the patio where ashes can be dumped.

8. Please leave the thermostat set to at least 60° at all times.
9. Please respect check-in and check-out times.
10. Please pick up all dog waste prior to check out.
11. Please take care of the furnishings and don’t rearrange anything.

14. Please empty kitchen & bathroom trash into bins in the front yard.
15. No illegal substances allowed on the premises.
Should you encounter any sort of emergency during your stay, please contact the local authorities immediately.

*****During winter months (November-April) please be aware that drivers are required to carry chains in their vehicles. While chain restrictions are not always in place, it is best to check local weather conditions prior to traveling into the mountains.
We recommend the SoCalMountain forum website for the most up to date info.
There are two-three (depending on car size) parking spots for your use. One space is on the concrete driveway and the second space is on the gravel right next to it.
During the winter: Please do not park on the street as you will most likely receive a ticket.
