
Most of the hikes in Big Bear are dog friendly. Please keep you pup on a leash at all times and pick up after them. Certain hikes are more strenuous/exposed than others so it is always recommended to bring water and snacks for your dog (and you). It is highly recommended to download the All Trails or Gaia app before heading out on your adventure.
Woodland Trail is an easy 1.5 mile interpretive loop. The trailhead is located on North Shore Drive (Highway 38), just 0.25 of a mile west of the Stanfield Cutoff, and 1 mile east of the Big Bear Discovery Center.
The Alpine Pedal Path is an asphalt path that wanders along the north shore of Big Bear Lake from the Stanfield Cutoff to just west of the Solar Observatory. It is easily accessible for hikers, skaters, joggers and even strollers and wheelchairs. This path extends through a pedestrian tunnel under Highway 38, North Shore Drive, to the Cougar Crest Trailhead parking lot.
The Cougar Crest Trail is a moderate hike located in Big Bear Lake, California. It offers scenic views of the lake and the surrounding mountains and is approximately 4.8 miles (out and back) in length, making it a moderately challenging hike.
Located on the western end of the lake, this trail winds up through old growth forest for a total out and back mileage of 7.2 miles and 1,300 total feet of elevation gain.
The Stanfield Marsh boardwalk, an easy 1.6-mile walk, along the edge of Baker's Pond, offering stunning views and prime wildlife-watching opportunities.
This 213 acre parcel of land is a newer addition to the area. It boasts a variety of intertwining trails for hikers and mountain bikers alike. Dogs must be nice, kept on a leash and/or strictly controlled by command. All pet waste must be removed.
This list just barely scratches the surface when it comes to trails in and around the Big Bear area. The world famous Pacific Crest Trail meanders through the area on its way from the Mexico boarder all the way up to the Canadian boarder.
